The Learning Room encompasses artists and students who work in many different mediums, such as painting, photography, pottery and sculpture. The Learning Room became an organization when co-founders Rollin and Becky Alm were brainstorming about ways to bring more art into the community and to share their love of art with people who may not typically be exposed to the arts. The first phase of The Learning Room consists of bringing school age children into The Alm Studio for daylong field trips. During these visits the children will be given art lessons by a visiting artist or by Rollin Alm. These students will learn to use a particular medium hands on. Each child will leave the studio with a piece of art they have created themselves and a new knowledge of the medium they have explored. |

| Phase Two of The Learning Room is to expand the location to a facility located in Meadowlands, Minnesota. Nestled in this quiet, rural Minnesota setting, is a historic bank building with adjoining garages and open lots. These buildings are currently being renovated to accommodate several artists in residence. Studios and living quarters are being constructed as well as a spacious private courtyard and gardens. | ||||

| Once The Learning Room is operating in Meadowlands, we will be accepting applications from artists around the world who would like to stay at The Learning Room from one to four weeks to work in their medium. In return, they will be asked to share five percent of their time with the community using their art form. The field trips with the students will continue as they have been running, but they will additionally be held at The Learning Room facilities in Meadowlands, Minnesota. | ||||

The Learning Room is a non-profit public charity, and will depend on donations to provide art materials for our children's field trips as well as stipends for visiting artists. Any contribution, either monetary or in-kind, would be greatly appreciated. For more information or to make a tax-deductible donation, please contact us at: |
